In order to meet eligibility requirements to compete for Miss Spokane, a candidate must be:

  • At least 19-years-old on December 31st of the competition year.

  • No more than 26-years-old on December 31st of the competition year.

  • Must be a citizen of the United States of America.

  • High school graduate or successfully completed G.E.D. by July 31st of the competition year.

  • Female, never married, not pregnant nor a parent or adoptive parent of any child.

  • Meet the requirements set forth in the Miss America Local Candidate Contract.

  • Geographic eligibility - only ONE of these is required for eligibility and must be maintained through the competition (and year of service if the candidate wins the local title):

    • (A) Residency Status: Reside in the local franchise area (see below) for a minimum of thirty (30) days prior to entering a local preliminary competition. Proof will be a driver's license, auto registration, voter registration, property mortgage or lease in candidate's name, or tax filings.

    • (B) Student Status: Accepted and successfully registered to physically attend classes at an accredited college, university, or technical school as a full-time student (at least 12 credit hours) located within the franchise area (see below). Proof will be evidence of registration, transcripts or other official documentation from the educational institution. 

    • (C) Employment Status: A full-time employee (averaging no less than 32 hours per week) of a company located within local franchise area (see below) for a minimum of sixty (60) consecutive days immediately preceding the date of the local competition. Proof will be paystubs, W-2 forms, income tax filing, or other relevant documentation to prove full-time employment.

  • Pay participation fees

    • $35 per competition year to register on the Miss America Organization registration website.​

    • $75 per local competition to register as a local candidate on the Miss America Organization registration website.

  • Is not a candidate, participant, or titleholder in any other local, state, regional, national, or international competition or state or local preliminary competition of similar nature to the Miss America Organization program.



Don't live/work/go to school in Spokane? YOU'RE IN LUCK - You may still qualify to compete!

Due to low availability of local competitions east of the Cascades, we accept contestants from areas including (but not limited to): Cheney, Chewelah, Clarkston, Colville, Deer Park, Ellensburg, Kettle Falls, Liberty Lake, Moses Lake, Newport, Pullman, Ritzville, Spokane Valley, Tri-Cities, Walla Walla, Wenatchee, Yakima, and more!
